According to the Misfits website, Halloween will see the release of the Misfits first original material in a decade.
Single 'Land of the Dead' will be released on vinyl and digital download on Halloween.
I know what most people think of the current line up, but I am actually very excited by this. I agree that the band are nowhere near as good anymore, but I'm a fiend for life and will support them until the day Jerry stops.
Just thought some people would like to know

crazy yo! should be intresting to give it a listen!
Theres 3 things this album could do..
1. Make everyone love jerry only
2. make everyone hate jerry only and the album will finish off the 'misfits'
3. go under the radar, and no one know its even exsisted
We shall wait and see, I gotta admit, ill get it just so i can see if theres still some life left in the old beast... |

I look forward to hearing it. Jerry Only should have released new material ages ago. Then maybe people would look past all the ridiculous Misfits lightswitch covers etc. _________________

Some Misfits Guitar Hero would be pretty damn fun.
Did anyone else hear that Jerry Only is gonna pass the Misfits down to his son at some point? _________________

thats news to me!
althoguh wouldnt it be funny if he turned round and said:
'im playin bass now, graves/danzig is coming back, ohh, and so is doyle'
that would be pretty ace if u ask me XD
(random note: if u look on the wall in the guitar hero metallica character creation screen, you can see a poster with a fiend skull on it) |

I heard that at some point too. I think that would be the only time I'd stop going to see them. _________________ Catch, catch the horror taxi.

I wanted to like this so much. Believe me, I was super excited to hear about new material. I wanted this to save Only's reputation and rejuvenate the band we all love. Alas...
Oh dear god. The songs themselves aren't bad, and the musicality of them is quite cool, if a little formulaic. But the vocals are pretty dire.

Land is half decent, but Twilight is embarrassing
No surprise really, but Jerry Only needs to find a singer. The annoying thing is you can tell that the melodies would be pretty good if they were sung in tune more than 60% of the time.
In fact, Dez' shouty voice might work better, because at least in Black Flag he wasn't feigning a trained voice. There'd be no pretence, and that's what the Misfits seem to be all about right now: pretending to recapture their former glories with about 10% of the tools they had available back then. Although I guess the melodic element is important as well...discuss??
Anyway, what's all this bollocks about Only "passing the Misfits down to his son"? REALLY?? _________________ "You think this is a fucking costume? This is a way of life!"

I'm not arguing because obviously, everyone has their opinions. But, I absolutely love both the new songs.
Like I said, I actually quite like the current line up simply because it's good cheesy fun. And that's exactly what I think these songs are, cheesy fun.
I think sometimes people take it too seriously, it was never going to be amazing but I don't think it's terrible either.
As for Jerry's vocals, I think he sounds suprisingly good on these tracks. I've always loved his voice anyway haha _________________ Catch, catch the horror taxi.

i gotta admit, land of the dead is pretty good, could be better, but could be alot worse!
the other one on the other hand is just pants(in my opinion)! it just lacks that misfits charm
more land, less twilight |

Yeah I thought the Land one sounded okay, not really worth waiting like 10 years for though.
There are so many bands doing similar music but way better. _________________

Couldn't agree more! (although my opinion on this may count for very little as I actually quite enjoyed Project 1950) _________________ Spooky

I didn't mind Project 1950 either, just would've preferred some kind've original material.
