Hi,

I was a horror punk fan for about a year, i spent alot of money on buying cds from bands. The only reason i did this is becuase im a huge horror fan and i thought i would find this in the music, but i was wrong. How is somebody screaming down a microphone about raping a corpse anything to do with horror? It's just sick. It is un-healthy. I have no idea why people listen to this.

I think alot of horror punk bands and the culture in general isn't healthy. Im trying to find a band that doesn't have negative or explicit lyrics. I only managed to find about 2.

Dressing in black 24/7, listening to bands that deal with killing, murder, rape and torture etc etc is not positive i think it is very bad for you, and especially for kids.

Also you look at a horror punk fan at a show why dress up in blood or as a zombie if your going to do is get drunk?

Iv also noticed alot of horror punk bands now have started to use anti-religious themes, and even some bands have explored satanism or in general just anti-christian images. Again i think this is very bad.

What are your opinions on this?

Why is there also alot of horror punk bands who abuse animals? What has animal abuse got to do with horror? Iv seen all kind of sick cover arts for albums. This is no different than death metal bands another degrading style of music.

I understand theres some fun bands in horror punk who come across quite innocent with their cartoon cover arts but i dug deeper and read into their lyrics. Theres nothing innocent at all.

There is real horror music in the world, horror punk isnt it.

Thank you for reading.

I think you have completely misunderstood what horrorpunk is and need to listen with another ear and lighten up a bit. Why take life so seriously? HP is an audible escape from an evil world.

As for the animal thing. Which bands are using animal cruelty? I've not seen one yet.

Sorry you didn't get it. Keep trying!

It's negative music. None of the messages are positive.

Nobody can lighten up over sick lyrics. As i said theres very few bands without.

Horror punk music is against god. These music genres are creating negative forces which brainwash people especially youth. It turns people violent, narrow minded, and negative towards life and others.

I would know when i listened to horror/punk/metal/death music i was like that.

It is not an evil world, just some people are and with horror punk music and similar music genres the messages are not helping they are influencing people in all the wrong ways. Everyone is free to their opinion this is mine. That's all im going to post.

Actually people in Hp bands are probably the most genuine friendly people I've ever met.

As for being against God. He is made up so thats a silly comment.

Horrorpunk is fun, tongue in cheek music just like the horror movies you say you are into. A little hypocrisy going on there. Funny that we were just talking about God and the bible!

Horror punk bands may write "sick" lyrics (in your opinion) but that's because horror is not meant to be pretty, it's meant to be unpleasant, scary, disturbing etc. So why should horror music be any different? Visually, certain horror films are way more offensive than any horror punk song I have ever listened to, so to me, it sounds like you have contradicted yourself by stating that you're a fan of horror films. Music is music, just because band X sang about murder and band Y sang about rape it does not mean that it's going to influence person X or person Y to go out and commit these crimes. When you watch, for example, A Nightmare On Elm Street and see Freddy Krueger tear apart teenagers why is that less "sick" than a 3 chord song about slicing and dicing your ex-lover? Couldn't you say that seeing dramatised murders etc. on any kind of film/T.V show has more of an influence on peoples decision to go out and get there slash n' dash on because they are actually seeing how these things happen? Visual stimulation and all that...?

Are you one of these presumptuous types who also believes that people who listen to rap music are evil because you boldy assume that all rap music is derogatory to women and it promotes violence/gun crimes etc?

Horror punk music is against god? Bit judgemental and disrespectful considering that there are members of horror punk bands/fans of horror punk who are devout to their religions.

Horror punk is a fun, tongue-in-cheek kind of music and to me, if it comes across as "sick" or "twisted" or "violent" or "evil" then the bands writing these particular songs are doing their job just right because they are getting a reaction from people like you which will probably result in them writing songs that are even sicker, more twisted, more violent and even more evil.

You said, and I quote: "Also you look at a horror punk fan at a show why dress up in blood or as a zombie if your going to do is get drunk?"

What are you actually trying to say here? Are you against alcohol too?
I mean, why do some girls put on lots of make up, push-up bras, low cut tops and short skirts just to go out to a club to get drunk? Why do some guys grow mullets and bad facial hair, put on Whitesnake tee's, ripped denim jeans and old leather jackets just to go out and get drunk? It's called "having fun". Are you against that as well?

I'm really bored of this.

*Let's all put on the Misfits, get dressed up in all our favourite black clothes, have a few alcoholic beverages, sharpen our kitchen knives, get really horny then go out and murder the first person we bump into. Then, once we know they're dead, rape their still warm corpse until their cadaver goes cold, then proceed to dance in puddles of blood and cum whilst aiming our middle fingers up to the heavens above and proclaiming our love for the devil and all things evil.

*Said with tongue firmly in cheek, of course.

why post at all?  you don't like it.  fair enough. nobody said you had to.  we do, end of.

my opinion?

anyone who allows themselves to be influenced to violent or negative thoughts and actions by music, films, comics, videogames, books, clearly has some deep seated psychologcal problems that were there way before the ever discovered 'the record that made them go out and kill'.  and this includes you, Ghost.

i suspect that avoiding horror punk and finding Jesus is not going to bring an end to your emotional problems.

go away and sort your life out.

I sense this is some sort of joke. I couldn't be bothered to read all that; I have no time for religious people.

What a load of old nonsense, decades of listening to horror punk haven't done me any harm... apart from that whole walking round in a hockey mask and trying to kill lovely young ladies with various gardening implements.

Still it's not  a total loss, we don't do swearing so no imaginary super-friend rules have been broken Razz

I don't really get the point of this. I mean, you registered for a forum based on something you don't like. Why bother?

Also, I don't think we need to hear your overlong, and quite frankly boring views. Again, why put the effort into writing all that stuff about something you dislike? Save it for something you do like.

I think this thread just goes to show that people really do have too much free time.
