Seems like so many bands are splitting up & no new ones are starting up. & the ones that are still going hardly ever play.
Whats going on guys?

Don't hold your breath, but there's something in the pipeline over here. And since when did death become such an obstacle? Razz This is horror punk we're talking about after all Twisted Evil

UK horror punk isn't dying, it's just resting...

I used to jam and write horrorpunk songs with a couple of friends and we went by the name "The Insane Mr Jack O' Lantern". We never played any gigs or anything but I'm thinking about starting this band up again, SBM aren't, and never really have been horrorpunk, we're dark in more real life kinda way, more like AFI/Alkaline Trio dark. I've always wanted to play shows as a full on balls to the wall drag queens esque. band...so I think right now is a good time to get this band going.

Yeah AD drew more on the dark elements of punk rather than all out horrorpunk but the influences were pretty obvious...and its not so much dying, just need to find a band and ressurection shall take place...

I reckon so many horrorpunk bands split up because, creatively speaking, it can be pretty limiting. Also, people grow out of it fairly quickly (atleast it seems that way) and want to move on to more serious projects. It's an acquired taste and not alot of people understand what it's all about, I think that's why it never moves out of the underground. Shame really.

I didn't say it's not serious, I said some bands want to move onto more serious projects and by that I mean they grow out of writing about zombies and vampires and stuff and move onto writing about more "real life" things.

Well, "real life" can be pretty scary, and some horror bands use the zombie, vampire, etc. thing as a metaphor for real life stuff, in a similar way that Romero did with his films. The Nerve Agents, Samhain and The Ruined being three fairly good examples.

And anyway, SBM and the Creeps are still together, Dan's got some new projects, Neil & I from AD have a new band, Luke's on the look out. It ain't over 'til its over guys. Have a little faith.

Seems like the horror bands i put on are like the charity case in the lineup, dont bring ppl in or make any money, just on cos i like them & want to support them. Just worth it for the few ppl who are suprised and like what they see... most are just laughing at the guys in the toilets putting on their makeup & fake blood.
im more pissed off with the scene round here, fucking identical posers. Im really starting to hate them all. Im dying my hair tonite cos every girl has black now. just need a straight fringe & a headscarf n i could be in with the cool kids.. fuck it, noones speaking to us now anyway. outcasts amongst the outcasts.

If these bands wouldn't just split up all the time it'd be different I'm sure...
