im sorry, cal didnt like them.
if you like afi, then there right up your street. i liked a couple of songs on black sails on the sunset and art of dying but im not a huge fan, possibly why i didnt enjoy them. |

I was never overly into AFI, just like horror movies and punk rock... Its a mix of that i guess. Were better than Panic At The Disco...xx | ||

I can't really think of any bands to compare to actually.. Anyway, gonna try to get to the one on the 23rd but can't guarantee anything (Nekro, you know what I'm like with getting to your gigs  )

19th is in huddersfield, at the west riding...
i think we have a couple of songs that sound a bit like afi, but most of our influence seems to come from punk rock bands like early offspring. we just add a horror movie 'flair' to it. |

go on our myspace (if you fancy it) and listen to the tracks 'skeleton crew', 'dead by dawn' and 'poison ivy', there's little to none afi influence in them! |

dude you've completly misinterpreted my post. in your first post you said we weren't your cup of tea because we sound like afi, so i just pointed you in the direction of some songs that didn't sound like afi, that's all

jack went to the liverpool gig just like cal and its not my cup of tea
it was the misfits song at the end that did it for me just not my thing still was a good night out tho some of the bands that came after ware excellent |

I'd like to through my ten cents in here, and just say that The Ruined are a fucking awesome band musically, regardless of vague similarities to A.F.I. they can play far better than most. and so to my point, its not like the UK horror punk scene is full of amazing bands you can see live any day of the week! be thankful that theres a talent such as the ruined flying the flag for UK horror punk!

I've seen The Ruined nearly 10 times now, got all their cds (bar Creatures of the Night.. Nekro or Andy, any chance you can hook me up?)..
I've not noticed any major AFI vibe really.. if anything there's a slight, SLIGHT, similarity to AFI's earlier stuff. Sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, but you've got to respect a band who constantly puts 100% and more into their shows and knows how to get a crowd going. xx |

i agree with the whole, every one has their own opinion. so can ppl stop bringing up the afi thing, its my opinion, if you dont like it, dont become a little whiney emo kid about it and act like some little american kid when you kill him on halo or somethin.
At no point did i say they sounded like the shit afi of today, i meant that they sounded like the old, good afi from b4 1999. sadly ive grown out of afi, so i wasnt into the ruined. Im not saying ppl cant go and see them and enjoy them, but the songs that they played at roadkill wasnt up my street. so can we all just drop it and get back to mindless self promotion of the band plz? |
