The Casket Creeps in Gorezone magazine!I haven't seen it yet, because the only shop that stocked it in Worcester shut down, but Rach from Lipstattoodesigns kindly typed it up for us.
"" This is a five track cd from Chepstow based goth/punk/psychobilly trio the Casket creeps, who are Tommy Creeps on guitar and vocals , Dr J on bass and Brijj on drums and vocals.
the group can be given kudos for energy and loudness, thought not, unfortunatly for much else, i'm sure their and awesome band when seen live, but their volume and frantic performance doesn't translate well to a cd. the result is a discordant free for all, with no sense of style or direction. there is rock music in all it's various forms and genres, and then there is pure and pointless noise. this falls into the latter catagory, and unfortunatley again, something they could do doubt get away with live, but not as a recording.
The five tracks on midnight bite club are incredibly short and probably suffer as a result. the whole cd lasts just under ten minutes. The opening track " Boris Karloff is undead" is about 100 seconds of load gutiar strumming that goes nowhere. It'd a little sad to see such a poor tribute to such a horror movie giant. track 2 sould of a monster runs a bit longer at a couple of minutes, but even that is short time, the vocalist seems to miss a couple of cues, and at best seems off beat at times, with adjustments being made as the group continue to play, it's an amateur effort, and somethign you'd expect to hear from a band playing working mans clubs, tracks 3 and 4 i'd like to say that they're the best on the disc, but that would be over kill, it's fairer to say that they are the least bad. the guitar work shows signs of reativity but the screaming emo vocals tend to try and compete and then eventually evaporate whatever credit the songs had, by the time the final track Los vampires plays, all hope for any saving grace to the disc is gone.
it's a sad observation that the tracks titles shows more thought and imagination than the tracks themselves.
